The basic hat is done in double crochets. I used a size H hook and Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool yarn (color: oak tweed) for the main part of the body.

My sister wanted a fleece lining, so I sewed that inside after it was completed. She requested a ribbon pom pom for the top instead of a yarn one.

There are several modifications. I made the hat several rows longer. I did the monkey’s ears a little differently, as well as the mouth area. The ear flaps for wearer were made larger and longer as well.

The directions for the hat ended up fitting a standard medium sized head.

I’d also like to try to make the hat using single crochets. I think a double crochet hat is fast to make but more drafty. I think and unlined hat looks nice as well.

The border is a hdc, chain stitch all around. I used a size H hook. The yarn is Red Heart blue and turqua, as the requirements stated. The dimensions are approximately 6 inches by 54 inches each. It wasn’t until after I started the second scarf that I realized that if I did the star in the same direction for the whole scarf, the stars on one end (when placed around the neck) would look upside down. Therefore I did half the stars in one direction for half the scarf, then inverted the image for the second half.

All told, the basic scarf is 19 hdc across, not including the border. Two star athletes in Colorado shall be receiving these scarves!

The pattern initially called for stitched on spots, but I decided to crochet spots and sew them on. I wanted it to look more “realistic” so the spots had to be somewhat close together. That meant more spots! I looked at pictures of giraffes and their spots pretty much cover 90% of their bodies including almost the whole leg and face. I got a little tired of spots and thought this was sufficient!

I need to go back and put in two indentations. Giraffes have two sectioned feet.

I cropped the mane close as I wanted it to stand on its own. The legs were attached so that they would move.  When you pick it up, the legs straighten. The legs look fine on the giraffe, but making them, I thought the back legs were chicken drumsticks!

A friend said she though he looked like Melman from Madagascar. Not a bad resemblance!

I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn, marigold yellow and chocolate brown, and a sized e hook.

This is a pattern from Delicious Crochet. The yarn is Red Heart Supersaver, pink, cream, and variegated.

This pony is crocheted in parts and sewn together. It uses single crochet and slip stitches exclusively, in other words, an easy project! I used a size e hook.

Sitting, the pony is one foot tall.

This project was crocheted with Red Heart Supersaver yarn, blue, light blue, and tan. I used a sized e hook. Even so, it’s about 3 feet long and 11 inches tall.

After I started my nephew said he wanted a black dragon! This took a while to crochet, and I still have a couple other projects to make before Christmas. A blue one will have to do!

The pattern is from Delicious Crochet. It’s all single crochet and slip stitch. This is done in parts and stitched together.

The front pumpkin is crocheted. The back pumpkin is knitted. They both have crocheted vines and leaves. My husband said he preferred the crocheted one. he liked the texture.

Note: The vine and leaf are not in June’s directions.

Vine: Chain 15. 2 sc in each stitch. It will curl automatically. The leaf is not the prettiest so I won’t give instructions for that!

All the yarn is Red Heart. The pumpkin, vine and stalk were crocheted with an H hook. I used a sized E hook for the leaf.

Several nieces and nephews saw this as I was making it. Several of them wanted it! Unfortunately, there isn’t time to make them all a bag and their Christmas presents. However, this does make me want to try to make Dracula, Mummy, and pumpkin treat bags!

The bag itself is about 9 inches (21 cm) tall. With the handle it is 13 inches (32.5 cm). The hair is uniform since I didn’t have a pattern and I was in a hurry to finish this project! The ears are from Kitty-bob on Ravelry. My husband thought it would be funny if one of the ears was “sewn” on crooked. I humored him on that.

The nose is one larger circle with two smaller circles attached. They are pretty much just the top part of the neck bolts redone.

It looks like the hair is wispy all around, but it’s straight in the back.

Most of this project is half double crocheted.

The eyebrows are double crocheted. The nose and bolts are single.

The tea leaf green yarn is Red Heart crocheted with a size E hook. The plum perfect purple is Caron Simply Soft yarn, which is thinner so I crocheted with a size H hook.

This was a fun scarf to make. I used size 8 straight needles rather than double pointed needles since I’m faster at straight knitting.

The ball is crocheted since I can increase and decrease better when crocheting!

This makes for a fun decoration though it seems a little long for the lamp.

I did a little research and found that llamas have two toes. I’m embarrassed to say that the previous llamas I made had three!

My nephew specifically requested a white llama with a blue hat. I may stitch his name on the hat.

I think the pink hat turned out especially cute. Hopefully the doctor is right that my friend is having a daughter!

The pattern for the llama comes from Paola Navarro of Delicious Crochet. I used Red Heart speckled yarn for the llama, Red Heart variegated yarn for the hats, and a sized E crochet hook for everything. The hat pattern turns out way too big, so I had to modify it to fit.

I found Jan Lewis’s Harvest Pumpkin pattern on Ravelry. I used Red Heart yarn and size 8 double pointed needles. I chose to crochet the vine and leaf since I’m a better crocheter than knitter! This pattern is super easy. I would recommend it to knitters of all ability. The only difference I made was to do a long-tail cast-on rather than provisional. Happy Harvest!
